Ramona barn build. This was a ground-up construction project following the California Wildfires that took the old barn, which wasn't much to look at, thankfully. This one is bigger and multi-functional with two stories, base level for parking and storage, second story for family gatherings and a safe, fun place for the older kids to hangout.
Led as superintendent the ground-up construction of this custom luxury ocean-view home in Del Mar, CA., on behalf of Streamline Development. This included cast in-place concrete exterior walls (also pictured).
A long-time dream of private clients on the Hawaiian island of Kauai, this cliffside custom home was built from the ground-up following Hurricane Iniki including all interior woodwork and exterior stone work and wood siding. The design, meticulously envisioned by the owner, aimed to incorporate natural elements that would complement the surrounding island landscape and gracefully age (and wood silver) with time.
Contracted through Streamline Development and managed by project lead, Jon Dore, this old Solana Beach cottage remodel included a new roof, windows, and contemporary updates to the main living area where a bank of skylights and bi-folding "Catalina Door" was installed to bring more outdoors indoors for entertaining and generally bringing in more light and a cross-breeze. Custom fencing around the entire property completed the renovation while bringing warmth, character and privacy to this previously undefined property, which now features more well-designated and secluded outdoor spaces for visitors and family. The exterior drought-tolerant landscape and natural drainage around the property beyond the custom redwood fencing is now separate and can reclaim the land around the property resulting in a more natural look while creating additional privacy. The first image is the exterior BEFORE and the others are AFTER...
Several upgrades were made to this custom home in Del Mar, CA. Streamline Development was contracted to complete the renovation and JD led the project. A modern rectangular lap pool with water feature was built for entertaining and family time. Fabricated steel staircases were installed to maximize the space and have better rooftop deck access to enjoy the ocean view. CMU walls topped with horizontal ipe fencing were built around the entire property for added privacy and seclusion.
We love Ramona. The wide open spaces...the warm, dry air...the wind in the trees, and the babbling creeks running through it all. Jon had been instrumental in the renovation of the main house many years before followed by the ground-up construction of a new custom two-story barn and caretaker's home to replace those that had been lost in the CA Wildfires of 2006. So, when there came an opportunity to expand on this ranch's charm with a new sprawling arbor among the orchard and shady oaks, he was thrilled to be invited back for that job as well. Partnering up with long-time friends and builders on this project, it was a true community undertaking to create a space that would welcome hundreds under the grapevines as the family enjoys holding huge annual events with live music, art exhibits, and down home cook-offs. But, there needed to be a better place to sit and enjoy all the great food beyond the usual camping chairs. The custom arbor had to be long enough for at least a dozen picnic tables to sit under the stars with columns wrapped in stone as well as swings, electricity, and a storage building to match. Later, Jon was also involved in the construction of custom wood bridges over the creek and an outdoor theatre nearby the Arbor, another welcome addition for the family who has everything, and enjoys sharing it with those they love.
